The Gwich’in Social and Cultural Institute of Alaska (GSCIA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2019 by Gwich’in community members who have dedicated themselves to Dinjii Zhuh K’yaa (i.e. the Gwich’in Athabascan language) revitalization, particularly in the field of education. We advocate for the reawakening of Dinjii Zhuh K’yaa in our communities and create Dinjii Zhuh K’yaa language products, such as dictionaries, apps, and books. Our goal is to see our language at parity with English. Our first projects are developing a community digital and mobile dictionary and a print student dictionary alongside various original picture books and a vocab builder app.
